When someone in a pub, anywhere in the world, asks me what I write in the notebook, “Shits in my head” is the default reply. Seemingly, some of those shits I jotted down in the journals have been actualised. For example, the digital nomad embarkment in 2022 was seeded in the Journal Vol. 23. The latest one I finished, Vol. 24, was alongside me and helped shape another extensive adventure.
The first entry in the Journal was 17 November 2023. It reached the last entry on 10 June 2025. For two years, three months, and 19 days or 839 days, it was my companion on five continents: from the Total Solar Eclipse in the US to the ayahuasca ceremonies in Colombia, from a road trip to the Sahara Desert in Morocco to a ferry across the Strait of Gibraltar to Spain.
The timeline and maps, powered by Flourish, are not only to debrief the Journal’s adventure but also to celebrate this underrated self-development tool. Some shits in my head got real with its backing.
Unfortunately, I don’t move much in the current one, Vol. 25, only in Thailand, probably. But it’s filling in pages fast. That means there have been more shits in my head lately. Over the years, I have found that journaling in any form (including blogging) is an essential instrument for keeping track of my life. How do I optimise it? That could be another post or even a book about it.
