A few days in Madrid, my mission was to add another UNESCO World Heritage site to my collection. The most convenient one I could get to was in the heart of the city—Paseo del Prado and Parque del Buen Retiro. Roaming a combined venue of the boulevard and the park was like browsing a high-end version of street art. It also gave me a glimpse of how locals spent a Sunday afternoon in spring.

On the specific Sunday, some roads were also closed for the Madrid Half Marathon, probably including Paseo del Prado. So, we were allowed to walk in the middle of the street. After a visit to Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, I wandered in Parque del Buen Retiro to find that loads of locals (humans and urban wildlife) were hanging out in the park. It was busy but not crowded or chaotic.
That was not enough to get to know the Spanish capital, like two months in Barcelona and Málaga. Madrid was the last high-speed train trip before flying back to Bangkok.
