On the bus from the airport to the city centre, my first impression of Baku was the modern high-rises. Such a contrast to the Old City! There was one building I was eager to photograph Heydar Aliyev Center (Heydər Əliyev Mərkəzi) by the late Saha Hadid. It was a fun day visually rolling in the curves of the architecture.
Unfortunately, it was closed on Monday. So, I couldn’t get inside Nonetheless, just walking around the concourse was pleasing to see locals hanging out, as well as urban birds, especially, murders of hooded crows. Most of all, I got to work out my eyes on this architecture that started modernising the city.
