Are We There Yet?

EXT.street-day
‘Pong walks on a foot path and notices his reflection on a ceiling of a building. He looks up at it and thinks.
Head #1 (V.O.)
It keeps coming back to me.
Head #2 (V.O.)
That’s okay. You have to know how to deal with it. You need to deal with it.
HEAD #1 (V.O.)
That little boy. I’m not that little boy any more but I don’t know how to be someone else. I’ve never been anyone except the torn little boy.
HEAD #2 (V.O.)
Yes, you can be whomever you like.
HEAD #1 (V.O.)
I don’t know what I like.
HEAD #2 (V.O.)
Yes, you do. Just look inside.
‘Pong starts taking self-portraits with his camera phone.
HEAD #1 (V.O.)
But it is empty.
HEAD #2 (V.O.)
That means you can fill it up.
HEAD #1 (V.O.)
I need directions.
HEAD #2 (V.O.)
You are going the right way and you have come this far on your own with some helps. You need to lead your own way. Just think about your goals and focus on them. You’ll get there.
Someone looks at ‘Pong as he is acting strange on the street. He finishes his self-portraits anyway.
HEAD #2 (V.O.)
You WILL be there.
‘Pong keeps walking on the street.
Moments in 2007

I cannot leave this 2007 without looking back through out the year:
- Thailand Trip. Five weeks was not enough to make up for over six years I had been away my homeland. However, the important parts are done. It helped me gaining back self-confidence and I got a chance to show Stil where I came from.
- Depression. Everything seemed to crash in the late 2006. The camera was dropped, old PowerMac was dead and the mental health went rock bottom. Although it is getting better and I have learnt to love myself more, there are some issues that need to be dealt with.
- Mardi Gras. The grand photographic theme of the year is to reflect Sydney’s multiculturalism. It kicked off with Sydney’s Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras that led to Mardi Gras: the Slide Show and won a prize.
- Sydney Songlines. Another on-going project is documenting abandoned chairs and dumped stuff on the streets of Sydney. This project of Metro Screen guided me to produce Anywhere Chairs.
- New MacBook Pro and blog. It is such an excellent machine. And Out to Space has expanded from a photoblog to a blog about my relationship to the world.
It is still a long way to go to archive the goals I have in mind. Thank you for all the supports and let your strengths lead you, your friends and family glide to the shiny 2008.
Mochit 2
Posted by 'Pong in Photography, Self-portrait, Travel on 09/11/2007
I am on the way to Rayong, east of Bangkok. The best way to get there is by car via Motor Way but that is not possible for me. My only choice is a coach to the eastern province. The coach terminal is unofficially called Mochit 2 as the first Mochit (the area North and North-east terminal was called) is now BTS terminal.
We do not get too far. The bus stops at the service station for a check up and it turns out that they do not have a replacement part to continue the journey. We have to hang around there until they can another bus for us. That gives me an opportunity to take some snaps of the place even though we are an hour behind the schedule.
