Pre the Live
I knew that it was going to be busy week when the new semester started in July with my own final short film project at College of Fine Arts and the upcoming web soap opera but I determine to apply for Live Streaming Multi-Cam course at Metro Screen. I have done live event and video work with post-production. It is a great opportunity to expose myself to live studio video production and somewhat merge two those medium into one.
The other thing is to see how Stilgherrian Live would be like when pimped up with multi-cam studio environment. It’s my habit to do something challenging. I want to bring an instant interactivity to television. Wouldn’t it be good to have that interaction amongst the presenter, the audience and the producer so that it wouldn’t be just a TV web cast on the Internet?
So far, we have a quiz show being Aussie, a voice of disables on the show and, of course, Cnut of the Week. viostream hosting the webstream for us instead of ustream as normal routine. Stilgherrian Live Metro Screen Special Edition will be webcast Friday 31 July from 2pm. Be there!

Six Years Later

It feels strange when you revisit a location and do not recognise it. This is the corner of Harris Street and William Harry Street.
The picture on the left was taken on 6 February 2003 with Nikon digital point & shoot camera. It was one of those images I took and told me that I had good eyes. The site itself fascinated me. It was an empty land with a view overlook at Sydney in its growth.
Years went by and I passed that spot occasionally but did notice the development until I went to a second hand camera market at Ultimo Community Centre across the road. That land is now Ian Thorpe Aquatic Centre. I have been inside briefly but it did not trigger the memory of the old image.
It is impossible to replicate the angle in then-and-now tradition for a number of reasons. First of all, the old building is a big part of the composition and it is not there any more. If it was, it would be behind the new one. Moreover, it was a different camera. These days I use Nokia N96 camera phone for simultaneous street shots like this. It is easier to upload them on the fly.
However, I try to stick to the old composition where Centerpoint (AMP tower) or , now, Sydney Tower is in the background looked through the building. Some risk is involved when I have to stop in the middle of the traffic light to get this shot. Well it’s Sunday people don’t get killed, do they?
Cosy Batik

Late in the morning I was having a long walk to COFA, this place caught my attention with Javanese decor and turntable. Most of all, there were many powerpoints. That was always a good start. I decided to pop in for some tea. And here you go. I had lunch here and three hours later I’m still here.
It is a well fitted place amongst the creative area in Sydney. I’ve been looking for a place outside the house that I can work. Well I can go to Kelly’s on King for that but I need more sunlight and less alcohol. And Malay food here is a bonus.
I should keep this place as my sekrit hideaway but you can trace it down from their blog.
